If price was not an issue which stereo or true surround headset has the best microphone with a mute button? I'm looking at the microphone quality, not the headphone quality. I'm asking because I've notice that even the most expensive headsets have cheap $14 microphones. There has to be a headset that has a studio grade microphone. I would use a USB audio Interface with a studio microphone however they don't always have a turn off or mute button easy to get too. I'm willing to use a USB interface with a headset if the microphone is studio quality.

One of the best i've ever heard is the Beyerdynamic MMX2. or MMX 300. They
use audio interfaces, but for headsets, its really hard to beat those.

I've given up on headset combos, and just use my eight channel yamaha multitracker that has microphone jacks of the quarter inch variety, and using an sure 58 microphone, standard for vocals. Granted you'll pay a bit more to get a mixer and a microphone like that, but it's a good investment to save up for.

Whatever you do, do not get a cheapo baringer mixer should you chose to do that in the future. Ither try one from alan and hieth, or the soundcraft series.

One more for the MMX2. I'm not sure I'd call it studio quality, but it does sound similar enough, to me, to the headsets sportscasters use.

Kingston HyperX Cloud 2 has a killer microphone and a decent headset, from what I've read of reviews. It's also about a quarter of the price. I figure that the difference between mics on the MMX300 and the HyperX Cloud 2 will be minimal; if you want that extra 3-7%, spend 400% more money and get the Beyerdynamic model mentioned in previous posts.

Kingston HyperX Cloud 2 is the same price, $99, on Amazon as the MMX2. The MMX300, yes, is more expensive and probably not worth the expense.
